Tara High School senior earns high school diploma, associate degree at same time
BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — A Tara High School senior has made history in the East Baton Rouge Parish School System.
Gabriel Smith is the district’s first student to earn a high school diploma and an associate’s degree at the same time, according to a news release.
“We are incredibly proud of Gabriel’s achievement,” said John Hayman, principal at Tara High School. “Gabriel’s success sets a new standard for what our students can achieve, and we are excited to see what the future holds for him.”
Smith earned this achievement through the Cy-T.E.C.H Magnet Academy, which is a program provided solely at Tara High School, according to a news release.
