SUV strikes teen on bicycle and flees; MCSO seeks info on crash, driver
MARTIN COUNTY −A teenager riding a bicycle at night on Northeast Savannah Road was hit by a sport utility vehicle that law enforcement officials said drove away after the crash.
The teen was flown to St. Mary's Medical Center in West Palm Beach after being struck Wednesday by what was described as a silver Hyundai Santa Fe, or a similar-style SUV, according to the Martin County Sheriff's Office.
The crash occurred near a Cumberland Farms gas station at 2001 N.E. Savannah Road north of Stuart.
Surveillance footage from the business showed a silver SUV that the agency stated in a social media post was a "vehicle of interest" last seen northbound on Northeast Savannah Road.
Anyone with information about the crash or the vehicle, which was said to likely have passenger-side damage, is asked to call deputies at 772-220-7144.
