Hillsdale County Prosecutor Neal Brady formally charged the teen with threat of terrorism, a 20-year felony in Michigan. The Hillsdale Daily News is not reporting the student's name because of their age.

Authorities lodged the teen Wednesday in the Hillsdale County Youth Home. The teen will be subjected to criminal procedures in Hillsdale County Probate Court under Judge Michelle Bianchi.

Brady’s office has taken a strong-handed approach to school threats in the wake of the Oxford Community Schools mass shooting on Nov. 30, 2021, after which a number of copycat threats plagued school districts throughout Hillsdale County leading to an increased police presence spreading fear throughout student bodies and causing parents to panic.
