Strictly Come Dancing star Gorka Márquez has weighed in on his future on the show following a new TV role this year.

The professional dancer joined the judging panel of Bailando con Las Estrellas in 2024 - the Spanish version of the hit BBC ballroom series.

In an exclusive interview with Digital Spy, Gorka was asked if his new commitment would affect him returning to dance on Strictly going forward.

"Not really, it’s the same format but in a different country and different times," he tells us. "I’d love to judge again but I'd love to keep dancing in Strictly. It’s the best show on telly and it’s what I love to do.

"Even if they said to me: ‘Do you want to judge?’ on Strictly, I’d say I want to dance, cos I want to keep dancing and teaching someone and choreographing," he adds. "That’s what really makes me happy, more than being a judge."

Gorka is back on screens in May with fiancée Gemma Atkinson in the second season of their W reality show Gemma and Gorka: Life Behind The Lens. The dancer met the former Hollyoaks actress on the set of Strictly when she was competing on the 2017 series.

Chatting about Gorka's busy schedule, Gemma revealed what her "dream" career setup for her other half would look like.

"He can do Strictly from August to Christmas, judge from January to April and have May to July off," she says, adding with a laugh: "That would be the dream to me, I’m putting it out there to the universe."

Season one of Life Behind The Lens featured three episodes, with the second season consisting of six episodes.

"The channel approached us and said it was one of their most watched shows, and could we do another one with six eps," explained Gemma. "And I’m like how the hell are we going to do another one with six eps?

"The feedback we’ve had the most is people have loved the fact that we decided to have no glam squad, there’s no glam team, there’s no script, let’s do this scene, let’s do that scene. We said if it's a reality show it's got to be real."

Gemma and Gorka: Life Behind The Lens airs on the W Channel and UKTVPlay from 6 May at 8pm.
