The new Generation 5 Glock pistols are equipped with Holosun sights as well as upgraded retention holsters, according to a spokesperson for the Stewart County Sheriff’s Office. They are also receiving training on these new weapons. The updated sights allow for quicker target alignment and help with shot accuracy.

The spokesperson added that school resource officers (SROs) will also have less lethal weapons to use as an option to deadly force when circumstances allow. In addition, supervisors will receive these new weapons and training within a few weeks.

These purchases were made possible due to proceeds from money and weapons seized from drug offenders, the spokesperson said.
