Steuben County Public Works receives highway improvement funding

STEUBEN COUNTY, N.Y. (WETM) – Steuben County legislators have accepted state funding for the county’s Public Works department to improve highways in the county.

According to a Facebook post on the Steuben County government’s page, legislators accepted funding from three New York State highway programs on Monday, May 21, which totals $10,000,000 to be used to perform work on Steuben County highways and bridge projects.

This funding will cover the Steuben County Public Works 2024 budget of $8.5 million with room to spare and will include 2024 CHIPs for $6,026,114, 2024 Extreme Winter Recovery for $988,568, 2022 Pave NY for $1,521,720 and 2022 Pave Our Potholes for $1,014,480.

Additionally, the Public Works and Finance committees have approved the use of unused funds from 2023-2024 which totals more than $2.7 million for equipment, surface treatments, capital projects and bridged and pavement improvements.
