One man dead, two teens hospitalized after serious head-on crash in Haddam

One man was killed and two teens were hospitalized after a serious head-on crash in Haddam on Monday morning, state police said.

Troopers responded to Saybrook Road just after 6:30 a.m. on the report of a motor vehicle crash, according to Connecticut State Police.

Troopers learned that a Ford F-150 driven by an 18-year-old man from Ivoryton was heading north on Saybrook Road, also known as Route 154, in Haddam when it crashed head-on with a Honda Civic EX heading south, state police said.

The Honda driver, identified as 28-year-old Elijah Isiah Santiago of Hamden, was pronounced dead at the scene by Haddam EMS, according to state police.

The Ford driver and his passenger, a 16-year-old boy from Ivoryton, were transported to Hartford Hospital with suspected minor injuries, state police said.

The crash remains under investigation, according to state police.
