(COLORADO SPRINGS) — Colorado Springs School District 11 (D11) and Holmes Middle School announced they are collaborating with the United States Air Force (USAF) to have a special helicopter landing at Holmes Middle School.

The landing is scheduled to take place on the Holmes football field on Monday, April 1 around 9:50 a.m. and will offer a rare educational opportunity for students and the community. Following the landing, the helicopter will be on display until approximately 2:45 p.m., allowing students and visitors to get a closer look and learn more about its features.

The event was arranged with the assistance of Capt. Andre Young, a distinguished D11 graduate of Holmes Middle School, Coronado High School, and the U.S. Air Force Academy, and his mother serves as the English Language Learner Paraprofessional at Holmes.

Captain Young and two other U.S. Air Force personnel will be available to interact with students, answering questions and offering perspectives on aircraft and military life. This aims to cultivate a deeper understanding of aviation while inspiring potential future careers.
