MANHATTAN, N.Y. (PIX11) – New School University students on Sunday showed support for Columbia University Pro-Palestinian student protesters.

They set up a “liberated zone” on campus in solidarity with those who rallied at Columbia’s pro-Palestinian demonstration last week. Tents and banners painted with slogans popped up in the university’s building on West 12th Street.

More than 100 people were arrested Thursday during the protest at Columbia, police said. Three more were reportedly arrested on Saturday.

New York City Mayor Eric Adams posted on social media about the situation:

“The NYPD has an increased presence of officers situated around the campus to protect students and all New Yorkers on public streets, and they stand ready to respond if a request is made by the university, like was done this past Thursday,” Adams said.
