San Diego International Airport’s newest airline makes its debut

SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — Breeze Airways’ first flight since announcing they were joining the lineup of airlines at the San Diego International Airport (SAN) arrived from North Carolina on Tuesday.

The inaugural flight from North Carolina’s Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) to San Diego International Airport (SAN) marked the beginning of nonstop service to five destinations across the country that were previously not offered from SAN.

Breeze Airways is the 17th airline offering service from SAN, which now offers nonstop service to 84 destinations. Breeze is the country’s only “Nice Low Cost Carrier” (NLCC).

Nonstop service is now available to five locations — Cincinnati, OH; Jacksonville, FL; Norfolk, VA; Raleigh-Durham, NC; and Pittsburgh, PA.

Breeze Airways also offers daily one-stop/no plane change flights to Providence, RI, and Hartford, CT.

Starting Tuesday, Breeze Airways now operates an Airbus A220-300 aircraft from SAN’s Terminal 2. The airbuses have 12 recliner seats in the Ascent experience, 45 extra legroom seats and 80 standard economy seats.

Fares for the new nonstop flights start as low as $79 one-way, if purchased by May 7.

From San Diego:

  • Raleigh-Durham, NC (Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Sundays, starting April 30, from $89 one way);

  • Providence, RI (One-stop/no plane change BreezeThru service, Daily, starting April 30);

  • Jacksonville, FL (Wednesdays and Saturdays, starting May 1, from $89 one way);

  • Norfolk, VA (Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays, starting May 1, from $99 one way);

  • Hartford, CT (One-stop/no plane change BreezeThru service, Daily, starting May 1);

  • Cincinnati, OH (Thursdays, Sundays and Tuesdays, starting May 2, from $99 one way); and

  • Pittsburgh, PA (Fridays and Mondays, starting May 3, from $79 one way).

Breeze Airways began service in May 2021, and offers more than 170 year-round and seasonal nonstop routes between 56 cities in 29 states.
