Sadorus animal rescue faces closure, urges donations

SADORUS, Ill. (WCIA) — Walls 4 Paws in Sadorus is a non-profit animal rescue giving cats across Central Illinois a temporary place to call home. But the organization’s co-owner said it’s getting tougher and tougher to pay the bills.

The animals live in a two-year-old, renovated shed while Tamara Deedrick and her son take care of them. The taxes on it are piling up — even though they should be tax-exempt.

Deedrick said she is willing to work 10 jobs before thinking about closing its doors but needs the community’s help to get there. Her goal is to raise $4,000 to get to a better financial spot and continue helping the nearly 30 cats inside.

“For the shed to keep going, we’ve got to have donations,” Deedrick said. “It is literally our heart and soul that we find homes for all of these guys.”

They’re in need of food and litter as well. You can drop off those items at the shed at 111 West Church Street in Sadorus.

They also have a new Sunday cuddle session with the cats.

“We started Sunday fun-day. It’s called ‘Kitty Cuddles for Cash.’ You can come by any Sunday and spend all day cuddling with cats. We just ask you bring a can of food, litter, cash, or just a toy. Then you can sit here all day and play with them,” Deedrick said.

Donations can be made digitally through @TDeedrick on PayPal or by mail at “PO Box 112 West Church Street, Sadorus, IL.”
