Public meeting set at Bakersville fire hall for bridge replacement plans

BAKERSVILLE ― PennDOT is developing bridge replacement plans for bridges on Route 4001, the W. Bakersville Edie Road and T-364, the Jimtown Road.

A public meeting and plans display for those interested in learning more about these projects is scheduled for 6-7 p.m. March 26 at the Bakersville Volunteer Fire Hall, 2341 Bakersville Edie Road, Somerset.

The project on W. Bakersville Edie Road involves the replacement of the existing single-span superstructure over Moore Run. Additional work includes minor roadway approach work, guard rail upgrades and paving. Traffic will follow a detour during construction.

The second project consists of replacing the existing one-lane, single-span Gardner Bridge that carries Jimtown Road over Laurel Hill Creek. This project will also involve roadway approach improvements that includes drainage and guard rail upgrades and paving. A detour will be implemented during construction.

Maps of the planned detours for each of these projects will be available at the meeting.

The purpose of this meeting is to provide the public with an opportunity to review and comment on the proposed projects. Representatives from PennDOT will be available to answer questions and receive comments regarding the projects. The comments of all individuals, groups or organizations are welcome. Anyone with knowledge of historic resources in these project areas should attend the meeting.

The meeting location is accessible to persons with disabilities. Anyone having special needs or requiring special aid is asked to contact PennDOT before the meeting.
