President Biden met with protesters outside Bay Area fundraiser

PORTOLA VALLEY, Calif. (KRON) — President Joe Biden was met with pro-Palestinian protesters outside a fundraiser in Portola Valley on Friday. The president arrived in the Bay Area on Thursday for a pair of campaign fundraisers.

President Biden touched down at Moffett Field in Santa Clara on Thursday and spent the night in San Francisco, where road closures were in effect around the Fairmont hotel, where the president stayed during his last visit to SF during November’s APEC summit.

On Friday, Biden traveled to the Portola Valley home of venture capitalist and tech billionaire Vinod Khosla for a fundraiser. As the president’s motorcade approached, dozens of protesters demanding a ceasefire in the war between Israel and Hamas were hoping to send the president a message.

“We want him to know that we don’t support the genocide that is happening right now, and we want his donors to know that we hope they would fund other things besides a war and a genocide. We are here today to let him know that people are unhappy with the genocide in Palestine,” one protester told KRON4.

Biden is expected to attend a second fundraiser Friday at the Palo Alto home of former Yahoo CEO Marissa Mayer before leaving for Seattle.
