Saab 9-3 Phoenix

Prior to the company's bankruptcy filing in December 2011, Saab planned to release a new 9-3 based on the Phoenix platform. The design, penned by Jason Castriota, was purportedly finalized but funding ran out before it could be put into production. Under the new ownership of a Chinese-Swedish investment group National Electric Vehicle Sweden, or NEVS, a modified Phoenix platform will be used to remove the 20 percent of parts sourced from former owner General Motors; whether NEVS will use this design remains to be seen.
