Pedestrian fatally struck in NE ABQ
May 20—The Albuquerque Police Department is investigating after a pedestrian was fatally struck by a vehicle late Sunday night north of Eubank and Central NE.
The crash occurred just before 10 p.m. near the intersection of Chico and Polin Springs NE, said APD spokeswoman Franchesca Perdue.
Perdue said video footage of the area shows a man standing in the road when he was struck by a dark-colored SUV, which fled the scene.
She added the man was declared dead at the scene.
Perdue said there had previously been calls of concern about a man, matching the pedestrian's description, looking into vehicles in the area.
She said the investigation remains ongoing.
