BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — Charges of drunken driving and driving on a license suspended for DUI were filed Friday against Bakersfield Christmas Parade crash suspect Alan Lewis Booth, who was out on bail when arrested this week in a new incident.

Booth, 72, was arrested Wednesday at Jim Burke Ford on Oak Street after police received a call of a suspected drunken driver.

He pleaded not guilty Friday to the new charges and his next hearing is set for May 30, the same date as his next hearing in the crash case.

In light of the new charges, Judge Colette M. Humphrey ordered Booth held without bail.

In January, Booth pleaded not guilty to four counts of assault with a deadly weapon other than a gun, two drunken driving-related counts and misdemeanor resisting arrest after his pickup crashed into three people at the Dec. 7 parade.

Booth took a breath test after the crash that revealed his blood-alcohol content at 0.25%, more than three times the legal limit, according to police reports. Blood results showed his BAC at 0.28%, the reports say.

Arnold Rios, the eldest crash victim, suffered leg fractures and a skull fracture with a brain bleed, attorneys said. He’s continuing to recover.
