Site of old Villa Heights church receives historical designation

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) – Charlotte’s newest historical designations are being approved by city council members.

City leaders voted Monday night to give Parkwood Avenue Reformed Presbyterian Church the designation. The church is in the Villa Heights neighborhood and first opened in 1929. It’s been renovated into housing units on the inside, but a lot of the original structure on the outside remains in place.

The hope is that the building will be preserved even longer now that the city is labeling it a historic site.
