NB I-57 reopens in Champaign after semi fire: State Police

Update at 9 p.m.

All lanes of northbound I-57 have reopened, State Police said.


CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (WCIA) — Northbound traffic on Interstate 57 is being diverted off the highway in Champaign due to a burning semi-truck.

The fire happened at Milepost 236, between I-72 and I-74. Officials said traffic is being diverted onto westbound I-72. They expect one lane of I-57 to be open around 9 p.m.

Drivers are advised to use caution and seek an alternate route of travel.
