Update: Myrtle Beach area high school evacuated after receiving ‘threatening phone call’

Carolina Forest High School was evacuated after the school received a bomb threat, Horry County Schools spokesperson Lisa Bourcier said.

Students and staff were transported to a safe place on campus while police conduct a safety sweep Wednesday morning. A bomb threat was called into the front office.

Law enforcement cleared all the building and students and staff returned to their classrooms, Bourcier said in an email sent about 12:25 p.m.

Several officers will remain on the campus as they continue to work with the school administration to investigate the phone call, Bourcier said.

At the time of the call, Horry County Police school resource officer, Horry County Schools security officer and other Horry County Police officers were on campus for a different matter.

No one was hurt.

The annual Horry County Schools track and field meet will take place as close to the original schedule as possible Wednesday afternoon, although spectators will be on a delayed entry, Bourcier said. All after-school activities and sports will resume as normal.
