Man sought in Victorville Feather Alert found after nearly three weeks missing

A man who disappeared nearly three weeks ago after reportedly being released from a federal prison in Victorville and dropped off at a closed bus station, prompting the California Highway Patrol to issue a Feather Alert, has been found, authorities announced Saturday.

True Clark, 29, was reported missing after vanishing on April 22, according to CHP. He had last been seen in the area of George Boulevard and Air Base Expressway at the Federal Correctional Institution, Victorville.

He was released from custody earlier in the day, according to Federal Bureau of Prisons records and KSFY/KDLT in South Dakota, where his family lives.

He left his father a voicemail saying he was getting on on a bus to head back home, the TV station reported. But the bus arrived without him, and it was ultimately found that the station he had been dropped off at was closed and he had never boarded.

The CHP reported Saturday that Clark had been found and the alert had been canceled.

No further details regarding where he was found, or under what circumstances, were available.

He was sentenced to 13 months in federal prison in March of 2023 after pleading guilty to auto theft, according to the U.S. Department of Justice.

Clark is a member of the Cheyanne River Sioux Tribe, resulting in the CHP Feather Alert, reflecting a missing person of indigenous descent.
