A man was sentenced Friday to 25 years in prison for raping a woman in Holly Hill while she spent the night at her coworker's apartment.

Shawn Bradberry, 26, of Holly Hill, must also serve five years of sex offender probation once he is released from prison, according to the State Attorney’s Office.

Bradberry was found guilty in March of three counts of sexual battery on a person 18 years of age or older.

Bradberry sexually battered the woman while she spent the night at a coworker’s home, according to a charging affidavit.

Bradberry was the coworker’s uncle. The woman lived in Palm Coast but would spend the night at her coworker’s apartment because it was closer to her job, according to a charging affidavit.

The woman said she went to sleep about 1:30 a.m. on Nov. 19, 2022, when she was woken by Bradberry who touched her and then raped her. It also appeared that Bradberry was taking pictures as he sexually battered her because she could see flashes from his cellphone.

The woman said she tried to push Bradberry away but he held her hands down, the affidavit stated.

During an interview with Holly Hill Police, Bradberry admitted to the allegations against him, the affidavit stated.

Circuit Judge Leah Case presided over the case which was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorney Sarah Thomas.
