Man rescued from Sandy River after getting ‘disoriented’ in cold water

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — A man who became disoriented after entering the cold water was rescued from the Sandy River Friday night.

This all happened near Lewis and Clark State Park at 6:30, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office. Another swimmer rescued the man, pulling him to safety. Deputies and Corbett Fire District crew provided medical aid.

The man is expected to survive after being transported to the hospital, the sheriff’s office said in a post on X.

Authorities are warning everyone to always wear a life jacket when swimming.
