Man killed in Ontario County crash identified

A 55-year-old man was killed in a one-car crash on Route 488 in Hopewell, Ontario County, on Tuesday night, according to the Ontario County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said that Curtis A. Wright of Seneca Falls, Seneca County, was driving a Chevrolet Camaro west on Route 488 and drove off the north shoulder of the road just after 11:30 p.m. His vehicle struck a mailbox and crashed into a large tree.

Wright, who was alone in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to the sheriff's office. The car sustained heavy front-end damage.

Deputies are investigating the fatal crash, and said that it appeared that both speed and alcohol were factors.

A stretch of the road was closed for several hours early Wednesday morning but reopened around 3 a.m.
