Man charged in 2023 fatal shooting in Oaklawn

WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — A man has been charged for the shooting death of Evan Harrison, 24, in March 2023.

Julian Wedge was charged by a judge in Sedgwick County with first-degree murder, robbery, criminal possession of a weapon and interference with law enforcement.

The shooting happened around 11:30 p.m. on March 4, 2023, in the 4200 block of S. Clifton. Deputies with the Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office responded to the area for a welfare check and found Harrison lying in the street with people around him trying to save him.

Harrison had been shot. He was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.

Wedge is next due in court on May 16. His bond has been set at $1 million.
