LSU fans send off women’s basketball team to Sweet 16 matchup against UCLA

BATON ROUGE, La. (BRPROUD) — LSU Lady Tiger fans brought in their best fan gear to the PMAC, bringing in cardboards and wearing their purple and gold.

Fans of all ages came together to say their final goodbye, before the Lady Tigers head to their Sweet 16 matchup against UCLA in Albany, New York.

Hailey Everrit, a mother of young girls who play basketball, made it a mission to bring her children to be part of the celebration.

“Checked the kids out of school to come out and do it because we’ve been following them and we’re still following them and we’re going to Cleveland,” Everrit said.

Everitt is a former basketball player, who said the Lady Tigers have shaped women’s basketball. She said bringing her daughters, along with friends, was very important, especially as they inspire the next generation of athletes.

“Women have changed basketball in the last couple of years and really push it to the forefront. And I know Angel’s been a big part of that, and for our girls to be able to see that they can have that confidence, it’s pretty great,” Everrit said.

As the Lady Tigers head to New York, fans like Aimee Simoneaux and her husband, have a special message.

“They’re going to hear us hollering from New York and moving on to Cleveland. Go, girls. Stay focused, get it,” Simoneaux said.
