The movie revolves around Jax (played by Gladstone), who has cared for her niece Roki (played by Isabel Deroy-Olson) since her sister's disappearance.

Taking place on the Seneca-Cayuga Reservation in Oklahoma, the coming-of-age drama shows Jax's struggle to find her sister, whilst she also helps Roki prepare for an upcoming powwow.

In a post on X, Gladstone shared a picture of the movie poster, which features herself and Isabel Deroy-Olson as auntie and niece.

She wrote: "Been so excited for this day, and I have never been prouder or more excited to announce…well… just about anything! Fancy Dance is coming to select theaters June 21, and to Apple TV+ June 28."

The synopsis for Fancy Dance reads: "At the risk of losing custody to Jax's father, Frank (Shea Whigham), the pair hit the road and scour the backcountry to track down Roki's mother in time for the powwow. What begins as a search gradually turns into a far deeper investigation into the complexities and contradictions of Indigenous women moving through a colonised world and at the mercy of a failed justice system."

Gladstone recently became the first-ever Indigenous performer to be honoured at the Golden Globes. She won the prize for best actress in a motion picture for her performance as Mollie Burkhart in Killers of the Flower Moon.

The actor is also set to star in an upcoming murder mystery series Under the Bridge, which will arrive on Hulu on April 17.

Fancy Dance comes to cinemas on June 21 and will stream on Apple TV+ June 28.
