Inside Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes’ Private Life Together: ‘He Devotes Almost All His Time to His Family’

Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have made a point to be supportive of each other while protecting their family’s private life. Still, two sources spoke to Us Weekly about Eva and Ryan's day-to-day. The couple is raising two daughters, Esmeralda Amada, 9, and Amada Lee, 7, out of the spotlight.

“They are trying to keep their daughters’ lives as normal as possible and don’t want them growing up in Hollywood,” one source said. They have no nannies, and when Ryan is on set working, that insider shared, Eva has family members stay with her to help her with Esmeralda and Amada.

Ryan and Eva are not immune to the struggles that come with being long-distance sometimes, a second source said. But they are good at managing: “Like any couple, they have some challenges to navigate, but they work through these things fairly seamlessly,” the insider shared.

Both make a point to support the other’s careers, the first source said: “When Eva travels, Ryan is more than happy to stay home.”

The second elaborated, saying, “Ryan always encourages Eva to pursue the projects she believes in and gladly steps up to the plate to take care of the kids whenever she needs.”

Ryan adores having daughters, that insider said: “He reads to the kids, takes them to games, puts them to sleep, cooks their dinners—everything, really. He devotes almost all his time to his family. He enjoys taking care of the girls and spoiling Eva, too.”

As a couple, “Ryan loves to cook for Eva, and once the kids are asleep, they’ll enjoy one of their favorite shows together,” the source said. While they will sometimes go out for date nights, “[they] prefer hikes and trips to the beach over fancy restaurants or a big party.”

Ryan will take another break from acting at some point to recharge and spend time with his family. As for now, that source said, things are good: “It’s a go-with-the-flow situation. Right now, Ryan and Eva are enjoying the best of all worlds.”
