The lake was drained in 2022 for dam demolition which closed the area to fishing and boating until now. The lake was refilled in February.

Mary Ellen Shearer of Hanover says she’s excited to see the lake open for the season.

“We were riding around and we thought we’d just stop by and see,” she said. “And it’s beautiful, it’s full, looks like the rain really helped all this water come up.”

Trails in the area are expected to be fully accessible as well by the end of June.
