“We are assembling a dynamic team of leaders to bring more historic victories to the Republican Party in the years ahead,” LA GOP Chairman Derek Babcock said in a statement. “Cory Dennis will play an essential role in this effort.”

Dennis is replacing Grant Scheeringa, who has moved to Attorney General Liz Murrill’s office as a legislative liaison.

Before coming to Louisiana, Dennis was a special adviser to Republican Maryland Lt. Gov. Boyd Rutherford from December 2018 until August 2020. Prior to that, he was the political director for Republican Larry Hogan’s campaign for Maryland governor.

The start for Dennis is politics was with the 2016 campaign of Mark Plaster, a GOP candidate in Maryland’s 3rd Congressional District. Plaster lost his election to incumbent U.S. Rep. John Sarbanes, a Democrat.

Dennis is a 2015 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and earned his degree in political science and international relations.
