KBI arrests police lieutenant for alleged child sex crimes

CHEROKEE COUNTY (KSNT) – A Kansas police lieutenant has been arrested for alleged child sex crimes, according to the Kansas Bureau of Investigation (KBI).

At 7:15 a.m., Wednesday, April 17, KBI agents arrested David Justice, 55, of Baxter Springs, near his home after the Columbus Police Department and Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office asked the KBI to investigate in Feb. 2023. Justice was a lieutenant with the Columbus Police Department.

Several search warrants were issued to collect evidence, according to the KBI.

Justice was arrested on charges of indecent aggravated indecent liberties with a child, indecent solicitation of a child and promoting obscenity to a minor. Justice was booked on a $25,000 bond.

Justice has been on unpaid administrative leave since Feb. 2023, according to the KBI.
