The artwork will be featured on a canvas and framed in the breezeway area of the Downtown Square Parking Lot between State of Franklin Road and Main Street, the release said.

“We’re thrilled to be able to feature regional artists in our historic downtown,” said JCPAC member Jocelyn Mathewes.

Those interested in participating must meet the following conditions, provided by the release:

  • At least 18 years old

  • Have previous professional art and design experience

  • Reside within a 100-mile radius of Johnson City

The committee will accept entries from March 28 through April 30 at 4 p.m. Artists may enter up to three artworks. All art must be two-dimensional and submitted in digital format.

Entries can be submitted online at Gallery on the Square Entry Form—Johnson City Public Art.

JCPAC member Lyn Govette said, “Public art adds enormous value to the cultural, aesthetic, and economic vitality of a community is a well-known fact. I am so excited to be part of creating these public art projects to enhance the quality of life for Johnson City’s residents and visitors.”

According to the release, the installation will take place in November and the gallery will remain on display until 2026.
