Homicide investigation underway after ‘senseless act of violence’ in Wisconsin

BELOIT, Wis. (WFRV) – One person is dead following a report of a gunshot early Friday morning in southern Wisconsin.

The Beloit Police Department says they’ve launched a homicide investigation following the call that came in at around 1:30 a.m. for a gunshot victim in the 1400 block of Nelson Avenue in the city of Beloit.

After officers from the department arrived on the scene, they located the victim, who was suffering from the gunshot. First aid was rendered, but the victim eventually died from the gunshot. Their identity is being withheld pending family notification.

Authorities say that the Beloit Police Department’s Special Operations Division is investigating this incident, with detectives working to gather evidence and interview witnesses to determine the circumstances around the homicide.

Beloit Police says no suspects have been apprehended, and the motive behind the homicide remains under investigation.

“This tragic loss of life deeply saddens us, and we extend our heartfelt condolences to the victim’s loved ones,” said Beloit Chief of Police Andre Sayles. “Our department is committed to utilizing all available resources to apprehend those responsible and hold them accountable for their actions.”
