Historic aircraft to roll out in Atwater

ATWATER, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – A historic aircraft that used to oversee California during the Cold War, will roll out in Atwater in the Castle Air Museum, officials announced.

Castle Air Museum officials say they will be rolling out a Convair F-102 Delta Dagger Interceptor after a lengthy restoration from the Museum’s Restoration Hangar at 3040 A Street.

This aircraft, according to officials, is retired from the California Air National and served as a guardian over the skies of the state for over a decade at a crucial time during the Cold War years against any threat from the former Soviet Union.

“This aircraft has been painstakingly restored to reflect the heritage of the California Air National Guard and honors past and current contributions and keeping the airspace over the Golden State sovereign for generations to come!” said officials with the Castle Air Museum.

The aircraft will be rolling out the Convair in the Castle Airport in Atwater on Saturday at 11 a.m.
