High 5 a Mav hosting inaugural 5k

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) — High 5 a Mav, a community-giving campaign that raises money to provide scholarships to current CMU students, is hosting their inaugural Mav Day 5k.

The 5K will be on April 6 at 11 a.m. starting at the outside of the Foster Field House and the Maverick Center.

CMU students who participate in the 5k will automatically be entered to win one of three $500 scholarships. The first 50 students to register will receive a ticket to the Student Life Beer Fest on September 27.

This event is open to the public. Early bird registration ends Thursday, April 4 at 11:59 p.m. Kids 12 and under can attend for free.

Participants can join a post-race party, which includes free barbecue and drinks in the CMU Alumni Zone.
