Saint Joseph Wellness & Weight Management expands to Elkhart and Marshall Counties

MISHAWAKA — Saint Joseph Wellness & Weight Management has opened two new locations to serve Michiana’s health and wellness needs. Each location’s team of physicians, nutritionists, and exercise professionals work with patients to develop customized medical weight-loss plans. These plans include meal replacements, medications, bariatric surgery, or a combination of treatment options to help people lose weight and keep it off. Managing weight can help lower blood pressure, lower blood sugar and cholesterol levels, and relieve gastroesophageal reflux disease, joint pain and sleep apnea. Wellness and Weight Management locations include: 231 Day Road, Mishawaka; 3421 Cassopolis St., Suite 200, Elkhart; and 1919 Lake Ave., Suite 104, Plymouth.

Corewell Health Center for Wellness has moved

BENTON HARBOR — The Corewell Health Center for Wellness has moved to a new location at 133 W. Main St. The new space is approximately 24,000 square feet – nearly 20 times larger than the previous location. The Center offers health screenings, hypertension care, mental health counseling and maternal infant health programming such as parenting, childbirth and breastfeeding support classes. Nutrition and culinary education programming in the new teaching kitchen will be added soon. The Center’s hours of operation are Mondays from 1 to 5 p.m. and Tuesdays through Fridays from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information about services available, call 269-408-2258.

NILES — The Niles District Library, 620 E. Main St., is offering a beginner yoga class, every other Monday, from 6 to 7 p.m. in the Community Room. The class is for adults age 18 years and older and all levels of experience are welcome. Bring a mat, wear comfortable clothing that allows movement. There is no registration required and admission is free. The instructor is Sam Major from Dancing Feet Yoga. Next class is April 1.

GOSHEN — Chair Yoga will be offered by the Elkhart County Parks at 9:30 a.m. April 4 in the Ox Bow Haus Shelter in Ox Bow Park, 23033 County Road 45. Chair Yoga is a gentle form of yoga that is done while seated or using a chair for balance. Wear comfortable clothing. Some mats are available; bring your own if you have one. This is a free class for those 12 years and older. No registration is required.

SOUTH BEND — The St. Joseph County Public Library is offering “Yoga for EveryBODY” from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. April 3 in Ballroom A & B, Community Learning Center, 305 S. Michigan St. Register at sjcpl.libnet.info/events.

Events

MICHIGAN CITY — HealthLinc is hosting Give Kids A Smile Day from 2 to 6 p.m. CDT April 4 at HealthLinc Michigan City, 200 Alfred St. This event is for individuals under 18 years of age. Appointments are required to receive no-cost oral exams, sealants, dental cleanings, and fluoride treatments to uninsured and underinsured children. Call 888-580-1060, ext. 3714, to see if your child qualifies and to schedule an appointment.

GRANGER — Friends of Granger Paths will hold its annual Granger Path 5K run and 1-mile fun run/walk on April 27. The 5K will start at 9:30 a.m. followed by the 1-mile fun run/walk. The race will begin and end at North Point Elementary School, 50800 Cherry Road. Registration is now open at grangerpaths.org and the fee is $30 for the 5K race and $10 for the 1-mile fun run/walk.

Support Groups

SOUTH BEND — The New Hope Support Group will meet the first and third Tuesday of each month from 7 to 8:15 p.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church, 54191 N. Ironwood. This interdenominational group is for divorced, widows, widowers and anyone suffering grief due to the loss of a loved one. The group meets in a large area of the basement level of the church. ELKHART — An Epilepsy Support Group will meet the first Thursday of every month and is for individuals with epilepsy and families of those with epilepsy. The group meets from 7 to 8 p.m. at St. Thomas School, 1331 Main St., entrance off small parking lot. MICHIGAN CITY — Franciscan Health offers a monthly stroke support group for stroke survivors, their families and caregivers. The group will meet at 2 p.m. CDT on the second Tuesday of each month in the Mother Maria Theresia Conference Room at Franciscan Health Michigan City, 3500 Franciscan Way. Attendees can park in the main entrance parking lot and enter through Entrance A. Guest speakers will present educational information related to stroke recovery during each monthly session.
