  • March 22 Lobo Tailgate Watch Party – The Historic Lobo Theater is hosting a free-to-walk-in event. Doors open at 12:30 p.m.

  • March 22-23 The Show – Albuquerque’s longest-running comedy show. Every Friday and Saturday at 8:00 p.m. Tickets are $12.

  • March 22-24 My Fair Lady – From Lincoln Center Theater comes the classic Lerner & Loewe musical. Tickets start at $68.50.

  • March 23 Nerd Slam Poetry Competition – As part of the Chicharra Poetry Slam Festival, poets are invited to get their geek on. Begins at 2:30 p.m.

  • March 23 Book Market & Vendor Fair – Books by poets competing at the Chicharra Poetry Slam Festival will be on sale as well as other merchandise. Runs from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

  • March 23 CreativiTEA – A casual collage-making and socializing event. It goes from 12:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m.

  • March 23-24 Flea Market – Head to ExpoNM to check out trinkets, charms, and more. Admission is $10 per car or $2 for walk-ups.

  • March 26 Colcha Community Stich A-Long – This workshop at the National Hispanic Cultural Center begins at 9:30 a.m. in person and 10:30 a.m. via Zoom.

  • March 27 Albuquerque Songwriters’ Cooperative Open Mic Night at Ancora – Every Wednesday night, Ancora Cafe and Bakery offers an open mic from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

  • March 28 Sensory-friendly night at New Mexico Museum of Natural History & Science – The Relaxed Night will offer free admission for guests of all ages. The Bisti Beast in the museum’s atrium will not be roaring or moving, and the planetarium will be dimmed and quieter than usual, the museum says.

  • March 22 Stained Glass Suncatcher Workshop – This event inside Rainbow Rainbow at Meow Wolf Santa Fe begins at 5:00 p.m. and is an 18 and over event.

  • March 22 Warriors Baseball Fundraiser – This event by Glazed in Farmington begins at 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

  • March 22-30 AMT presents “Rent” – Performances of the famous Broadway musical will take place at the Flickinger Center in Alamogordo.

  • March 23 Alice in Wonderland Tea Party – The event at Balzano Family Vineyard in Carlsbad begins at 2:00 p.m.

  • March 23 Saturday Farmers Market – The Santa Fe Farmers’ Market is open year-round on Saturdays in the heart of the Santa Fe Railyard.

  • March 23 Community Mental Health Celebration – Doors open for this free event at the Rio Grande Theatre in Las Cruces at 5:00 p.m.

  • March 23 Easter Egg-Stravaganza – This event at the Inspired Moments Event Center in Farmington begins at 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

  • March 23-24 Lincoln County Classic 4 Disc Golf Tournament – This Ruidoso event will take place at Oso Canyon DGC. Participants are asked to register online.

  • March 24 City of Santa Fe Easter Egg Hunt – The event will be held at the Municipal Recreation Complex at 205 Caja Del Rio Rd, Santa Fe, NM 87507. The city asks that participants arrive no later than 9:45 a.m. The event offers free fun for kids ages one through 10.

  • March 24 Sunday Chess Club – Popolo’s Games in Taos will host this free chess club open to all ages beginning at 1:00 p.m.

Albuquerque Notices

🔶 Downtown ABQ getting more e-bikes for patrols – APD has been using RECON Interceptor Power Cycles to access areas congested areas. Now, the department has gotten two more bikes for downtown policing. The electric-powered bikes can reach 30 miles per hour and go around 50 miles on a single charge, the city says.

🔶 Pre-lease applications open for new affordable housing complex in Albuquerque – The city is in the process of converting the former SureStay Hotel off of Lomas and Eubank Boulevards into apartments. About 30 apartments are expected to be open in the spring. The city and property manager Monarch Properties Inc. are accepting applications for one-bedroom apartments.

🔶 ABQ BioPark asks for drivers to slow down to protect geese crossing the road on Tingley – With nearby construction on Bridge Blvd., more cars are taking Tingley these days to get to Central. There’s a 25-mile-per-hour speed limit on Tingley that the city said is appropriate for the road. The BioPark said if the public spots injured wildlife near Tingley, to call 311 to notify the city.

🔶 Bernalillo County using $1.25 million to address pollution, development in South Valley neighborhood – The county will put more than $1 million towards addressing pollution and is supporting a development plan. The county is planning on using money from the general fund to support an environmental improvement survey.

🔶 Presbyterian Healthcare Foundation’s 41st annual Daffodil Days Fundraiser – Funds raised during the event will go towards supporting the Presbyterian Robert Wertheim Hospice House. Friday, March 22, at one of 12 pop-up shop locations around the metro, people can purchase a flower arrangement.

🔶 Bernalillo County hosting public meeting with sheriff’s office advisory board – The next meeting is scheduled for March 22, 2024, at 1 p.m. The meeting will be hybrid, both in-person and online via Microsoft Teams. The meeting will be held in the Chambers Conference Room at Bernalillo County at Alvarado Square.

🔶 Adult STEM night at National Museum of Nuclear Science and History – ‘Discovery After Dark’ will take place on April 12 from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

🔶 Registration open for Albuquerque Little Theatre summer camps – Albuquerque Little Theatre Education and Youth Program offers classes, workshops, and summer camps that cater to students of all ages. Kids can register for Disney’s Descendants musical camp, the play actors mini camp, the Play Builders summer camp, and more.

🔶 Explora Spring Break Camps – Explora is offering Spring Break camps on March 22, 25-29, and April 1-5. They will provide STEAM camps for Pre-K, K-2nd Grade, and 3-5th Grade groups.

🔶 New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science Spring Camps – Camps are happening March 25-29 and April 1-5 and are for children between the ages of 5 and 10.

🔶 2 Rio Rancho City Council positions headed to runoff election – In District 6, Nicole Dahn leads the pack with more than 200 votes over her next competitor Edward Lynn Paulsgrove but she did not get the 50% vote needed. Paul M. Wymer is the new District 5 councilor with 54% of the votes. The runoff elections for city council will be on April 9.

🔶 NMSP warns of counterfeit GoFundMe pages for Officer Justin Hare – New Mexico State Police are warning the public of fake social media pages spreading misinformation about fallen NMSP Officer Justin Hare. They say at least one account is fake and also said there are fake GoFundMe pages as well.

🔶 New Mexico History Museum to host free community event at the Palace of the Governors – The event is to celebrate the completion of five years of rehabilitation work at the Palace. “History Homecoming: Past, Present, Palace” will take place on Sunday, April 21, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Palace of the Governors.

🔶 State land office asking for input on transferring 212 acres of the Bosque to the feds – No actions have been taken at this time but the state’s land Commissioner Stephanie Garcia Richard wants public comments before deciding whether or not to approve the proposal.

🔶 Santa Fe shelter launches a mobile hygiene unit – The mobile hygiene unit created by the Interfaith Community Shelter has two standard showers with a restroom inside each of them. The mobile hygiene unit will run twice a week. You can find them on Mondays at La Familia Medical Center’s Healthcare for the Homeless off Cerrillos Road and on Thursdays at The Salvation Army on Alameda Street.

🔶 New Mexico offering debt relief for healthcare workers – Workers must meet certain qualifications, such as working in an eligible occupation or under an eligible healthcare license. The deadline to apply is May 1, 2024, at 5:00 p.m.

🔶 State environmental leader asks Congress to intervene on PFAS contamination – There’s well-documented PFAS contamination near Hollomon Air Force base among other locations, which only the Department of Defense has the authority to clean up. Secretary James Kenney also accused the Department of Defense of spending more effort on defending PFAS-related lawsuits as opposed to clean-up, saying the state’s now spent around $8 million in a five-year legal battle with DOD.

🔶 Biden announces major deal with Intel to invest billions in 4 states – The funding would support the construction and expansion of intel facilities in Arizona, Ohio, New Mexico, and Oregon and create nearly 30,000 jobs, White House officials said.

🔶 New Mexico History Museum collecting community objects for Zozobra exhibition – The museum and the Kiwanis Club of Santa Fe want to see the community’s favorite memories of Zozobra, also known as “Old Man Gloom.” Community members can bring materials like vintage merch, family movies, or other memorabilia directly to NMHM on Lincoln Street to have them examined and photographed on-site.

🔶 New Mexico Military Institute students head to DC to compete in National Science Bowl finals – The team from the New Mexico Military Institute secured their spot and an all-expenses-paid trip to the finals after winning a qualifying regional competition this past weekend. The National Finals will take place from April 25- 29, in Washington, D.C., and will include science activities and sightseeing, along with the competitions.
