Grand Rapids man arrested during undercover operation in Alger County

ALGER COUNTY, Mich. (WJMN) – A Grand Rapids man has been arrested following an undercover operation in Alger County earlier this year.

According to the Alger County Sheriff’s Office, Manuel Uribe-Mendez was arrested on February 24, 2024.

Authorities report an undercover officer posed as a 15-year-old girl. Uribe-Mendez is accused of communicating with the undercover officer using social media and traveling from Grand Rapids to Alger County with the intentions of engaging in sexual activity.

When Uribe-Mendez arrived at the predetermined location in Alger County, authorities immediately arrested him.

He has been arraigned and is currently being held at the Alger County Jail, where he will have a Preliminary Examination hearing in the 93rd District Court.
