Free breast cancer screenings planned at CPH

Apr. 24—POTSDAM — The Cancer Services Program of the North Country and Canton-Potsdam Hospital are teaming up to offer free breast cancer screenings.

From 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, May 11, Canton-Potsdam Hospital will host Mammos in May, where free clinical breast exams and mammograms will be available to all who attend.

Carolyn Handville, manager of the Cancer Services Program of the North Country, said mammograms are recommended for women age 50 and older, followed by ongoing regular screenings to allow for early detection.

"I encourage all community members, especially those that are uninsured or under insured, to take advantage of this opportunity to receive free breast exams and mammograms, " she said in a news release.

In addition to the free breast exams and mammograms, there will also be snacks, prize drawings and free massages.

Appointments are recommended and may be made by calling the Cancer Services Program at 855-592-0830. Screenings will take place at CPH Imaging, 50 Leroy Street, Potsdam.

Administered by Oswego County Opportunities, Fulton-based Cancer Services Program of the North Country provides free breast, cervical and colorectal cancer screenings to community members who are both uninsured and between 40 and 64 years of age.
