Four States Women's Show set for Saturday at Downstream Casino

Mar. 18—The Four States Women's Show, a girls' day out offering shopping, entertainment and other activities, returns Saturday.

The show runs from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. in the Pavilion at Downstream Casino.

This year's event is being brought back by Cari Enayati and Bruce Anderson.

Enayati sought to bring a women's show back to the area because so many, she said, herself included, used to attend similar shows held at the former John Q. Hammons Convention Center in Joplin.

"I'm re-creating a fond memory because I enjoyed it so much," Enayati previously told the Globe.

There will be numerous booths for browsing and buying, including clothing, beauty, salon, health care, gym, home decor and lawn and garden products.

In addition there will be presentations on a stage in the Pavilion that will feature speakers, demonstrations and more:

—11 a.m.: Mercy Hospital Joplin presentation.

—11:30 a.m.: safety presentation by security official from Downstream Casino.

—Noon: cooking demonstration with Cheryle Finley.

—12:30 p.m.: Mercy Hospital Joplin presentation.

—1 p.m.: fashion show.

—1:40 p.m.: Wig'n Out Boutique hairpiece demonstration.

—2 p.m.: Dr. Fly's Salon will demonstrate the trend toward nano brows and toward fuller, shapelier eyebrows.

—2:30 p.m.: AliceCBD talk on women's health and stress.

—3 p.m.: Joplin Family Y's Derrick Hornback discusses and demonstrates best practices to go from beginning to becoming elite exerciser.

Mercy Hospital Joplin will also have its mobile mammography unit there to provide tours and to educate and raise awareness.

Enayati said the event is envisioned as a one-stop shopping and informational experience. The Joplin Globe is providing free tote bags.

The cost is $7 in advance or $10 at the door. For more information, go to the event's Facebook page, which also has a link to tickets.

The presenting sponsor is Mercy Hospital Joplin. Other sponsors include KODE/KSN, The Joplin Globe, AMI Radio, Show Me the Ozarks magazine and Joplin Greenhouse & The Coffee Shop.
