Former STPSO deputy accused of domestic violence, arrested

ST. TAMMANY PARISH, La. (WGNO) — A former St. Tammany Parish Sheriff’s Office employee was arrested on a domestic violence charge on Friday, April 12.

STPSO officials said 27-year-old Brandon Espiritu was terminated from his position and arrested for domestic abuse battery with strangulation, following an investigation that began March 20.

He was a deputy in the criminal patrol division and was employed with the STPSO since June 2021.

“It is a very sad day when you have to arrest one of your own employees,” Sheriff Randy Smith said, “but no one is above the law.”

Espiritu will be booked into the St. Tammany Parish Correctional Center.
