Fayetteville man accused of murder pleads not guilty, gets trial date

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (KNWA/KFTA) — A Fayetteville man accused of murder pleaded not guilty on Monday, according to Washington County Prosecutor Matt Durrett.

Kacey Kawika Jennings, 31, was arrested after the disappearance of Allison Maria Castro, 28, in September 2022.

Castro was reported missing on September 19, 2022, after her family was unable to contact her.

Fayetteville police responded to a residence as Jennings was experiencing an apparent drug overdose that same day.

Investigators then found “more information” that led them to “believe that the suspect in this case had possibly killed his ex-girlfriend,” according to Sgt. Tony Murphy with FPD.

Jennings is charged with capital murder, abuse of a corpse, tampering with evidence and theft of property, court documents say.

Jennings has a trial date set for August 26, according to Durrett.
