Family remembers victim in Lafayette triple homicide with downtown celebration

LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY)– The family of one of the victims in the triple homicide earlier this month is reflecting on their loved one and the horrific event.

The family of Brandon Touchet said it is difficult for them as Touchet was a beacon of light. He touched many lives of those around him with his unwavering love and devotion. They said he will be missed.

Third victim of April 12 triple homicide identified

“It was horrendous,” Amy Guidry, Touchet’s sister, said. “”It was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced and would never want anyone to experience, very emotional.”

Guidry recalls the day she and Touchet’s cousin were with authorities as they discovered the three bodies in an apartment on South College Road. She said before Touchet’s death, she recalled him not showing up for work.

“We all became worried because it was very out of his character to not show up at work,” Guidry said. “So Thursday night, we went to his apartment. They got no answer. We didn’t hear his dog barking in the apartment, so we knew that something just wasn’t right.”

On the evening of April 12, Lafayette police said they were called to an apartment because of a welfare concern. There, police said they found three bodies, identified as Touchet, 49-year-old Eric Green, and 46-year-old Elizabeth Reames, all from Lafayette.

“Brandon was a great son, brother, friend and great uncle,” Guidry said. “He loved his family. For the past three years, he worked at Shred America. It’s a family business. He was an HR director. He loved his coworkers. Besides being a great uncle he loved dancing and he loved Reba.”

Police said the suspect, Chad Credeur was friends with the victims. He is in the Jeff Davis Parish jail on unrelated crimes. Lafayette police said he will remain in custody in Jeff Davis until he goes to court on their charges before he is brought back to the hub city to face first-degree murder charges in the triple homicide. The motive is still unknown at this time.

“We’re coping just trying to get through each day, day by day,” Guidry said. “It’s been very difficult. Every day it’s like a new nightmare over again. It’s just literally day by day right now is all we can do right now.”

There was a celebration at 5 p.m. Thursday in Downtown Lafayette, where people gathered in honor of Touchet’s life and his friend Green.
