El Paso Symphony Youth Orchestra’s summer camp returns

EL PASO, Texas (KTSM) — The annual Chamber Summer Program by the El Paso Symphony Youth Orchestras (EPSYO) is coming back in June.

The camp will take place from Wednesday, June 12 through Saturday, June 15 at the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP) Fox Fine Arts Building. Applications are to be received by Friday, May 17.

EPSYO continues to partner up with UTEP’s Department of Music for the summer camp, opening to both current EPSYO members and non-members, according to the news release by EPSYO.

A participation fee is required for all campers — a one-time fee of $175.

According to EPYSO, participants must be under the age of 23 to enter the program and the camp is open to string, woodwinds, brass and percussion players.

In order to enter the summer program, participants must audition. Auditions are to be recorded of the applicant playing two scales of their choice and a minimum of a two minute solo. The video has to be uploaded to YouTube or be sent through a WeTransfer link.

For more information on details, the audition process or eligibility, you can call the EPYSO at 915-525-8978 or visit their website here.
