Earth Day activities planned in downtown Chehalis

Mar. 25—The public is invited to downtown Chehalis on Saturday, April 20, to celebrate Earth Day with two community activities.

Experience Chehalis will host its community clean-up event at the Lewis County Historical Museum while Natural Nurture Farmacy presents its annual Earth Day celebration with activities and free family fun on Boistfort Street, according to a news release from Experience Chehalis.

The Earth Day community cleanup will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Volunteers can check in at the Lewis County Historical Museum and choose from a list of activities including picking up litter throughout Chehalis, beautifying the streets and contributing to the overall cleanliness of downtown Chehalis.

Experience Chehalis asks volunteers to call 360-345-1738 or email info@experiencechehalis.com to register. Those who register by April 10 will receive a free Experience Chehalis Earth Day T-shirt.

Just down the street, Nature Nurture Farmacy and co-host Community Farmers Market of Chehalis will be offering a free, family-friendly Earth Day celebration filled with activities and educational opportunities on Boistfort Street from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Attendees can expect gardening demonstrations and advice, farmers selling plant starts, a miniature pony for children to enjoy and activities and information booths from local businesses and organizations, including Fungi Perfecti.

There will be live music.

"We are excited to come together as a community to celebrate Earth Day," said Annalee Tobey, executive director of Experience Chehalis. "By participating in the community clean-up and attending the Earth Day celebration, we can demonstrate our commitment to a healthy and sustainable future. We invite everyone to join us for a day of fun, learning and making a positive impact on our planet."
