Drive-by shooting in Old Town leaves man hospitalized

CHICAGO — A man was hospitalized on Saturday morning after he was injured in a drive-by shooting on the Near North Side.

Chicago police say the gunfire erupted just after 10:30 a.m. in the 1400 block of North Orleans Street in Old Town.

The victim, a 35-year-old man, was outside in the area when a vehicle approached and an unknown individual opened fire in his direction from inside, police say.

According to officers, the victim suffered a gunshot wound to his left leg and was later taken to the hospital in stable condition.

Currently, it is unclear what led to the shooting and police say no arrests have been made. An investigation is now underway.
