(WHTM) – York County District Attorney Dave Sunday (R) and former Auditor General Eugene DePasquale (D) will run in the November Attorney General election.

Attorney General Michelle Henry is not running to keep her job; she was appointed by outgoing Attorney General Josh Shapiro when he was sworn in as Governor in 2023 and elected not to run.

Pennsylvania voters first began electing Attorneys General in 1981. From then through 2012, only Republicans held the Attorney General’s office. The narrative has flipped over the past decade, with only Democrats being elected to the “top cop” job in the last three elections.

Two of the last four Attorneys General elected to the job, Tom Corbett and Josh Shapiro, later were elected Governor.

Pennsylvania residents will elect the next Attorney General during the Nov. 5, 2024, General Election.
