DC police officer shoots dog after it attacks child

WASHINGTON (DC News Now) — The Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) said a toddler is in the hospital after being attacked by a dog on Thursday morning.

An officer responded to the attack in the 4500 block of Clermont Dr. NE at about 10:23 a.m. MPD said the officer shot the dog attacking the child.

The toddler was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A spokeswoman for the Humane Rescue Alliance said the dog was “in grave condition and was humanely euthanized.”
