Crime Alert: Police seek tips in bank robbery in eastern Berks

Crime Alert Berks County, a citizen crime-fighting group, is offering cash rewards of up to $10,000 to anyone supplying tips that lead to an arrest in this case or any other case or crime.

Tipsters with crime information can call 877-373-9913 anytime or contact Crime Alert at its website at www.alertberks.org or via the AlertBerks smartphone app. No one will ask the name of the caller, who will be assigned a code number.

Offense: Robbery

Date: April 29 at about 11 a.m.

Location: Truist Bank, 706 Main St., Bally.

Suspect: An unidentified white man wearing a medical mask, black hat and plaid flannel shirt, believed to be operating a black Toyota sedan.

The suspect passed a note to a teller stating that he was armed and demanding money. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money, he left. Police discovered the same man committed a silent robbery a day earlier at First Commonwealth Credit Union just outside Phillipsburg, N.J., about 40 miles northeast of Bally. According to Lopatcong Township, N.J., police, the robber got into a black Toyota sedan. Investigators are unsure if the robbery has ties to this area or New Jersey.

Anyone with information to help identify the suspects is asked to submit an anonymous tip through Crime Alert in one of the ways described above.
