Crews beat back fire at trash company building in Centennial

DENVER (KDVR) — Crews responded to a fire at a waste company in Arapahoe County on Wednesday.

At around 12:40 p.m. on Wednesday, South Metro Fire Rescue tweeted that fire crews, along with the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, were responding to a fire at Waste Connections of Colorado.

The company is located at 7120 S. Jordan Road in Centennial, southeast of Centennial Hospital. South Metro said smoke was visible from Arapahoe Road.

Crews initially did not say how big the fire was or if any injuries had been reported.

At 1:43 p.m., South Metro Fire Rescue said the fire was in the transfer facility inside a structure in a pile of debris but was under control at that point.

The cause of the fire was still not known on Wednesday afternoon.
