County commissioners will meet Tuesday

May 24—In observance of Memorial Day, the Johnson County Commissioners Court will meet Tuesday in place of its regular Monday slot.

The court will meet 9 a.m. in Room 201 of the Johnson County Courthouse, 2 N. Main St. in Cleburne.

The agenda includes a presentation on the Prairieland Groundwater Conservation District's 2023 annual report to be delivered by Prairieland General Manager Kathy Turner Jones.

County Facilities Maintenance Director Josh Green will update commissioners on ongoing and planned construction and renovation projects of county buildings.

Commissioners plan to consider approval of a proposed agreement between Johnson County and Cleburne to participate in the Cleburne Tax Increment Financing District No. 4 program. Should commissioners approve the proposal they will also appoint to court members to serve on the TIRZ 4 board.

Commissioners will consider Agrilife Extension Agent Kristen Clark's request for herself and a group of county 4-H members to travel to Washington, D.C., on an educational tour.

Commissioners will also consider Clark's request for herself and Extension Agent Keely McCrady to attend the 2024 Texas Association of Extension 4-H Youth Development Professionals upcoming event in Granbury.

On the district court side, commissioners will consider requests for court reporters from the 18th and 413th courts to attend the 2024 Texas Court Reporters Association Annual Convention in Arlington.

Related perhaps to such localized travel requests, commissioners will consider updating the county's travel policy to remove the requirement that contiguous-county travel cannot be approved on the consent agenda as opposed to being accorded individual consideration.

Commissioners, during the workshop portion of Tuesday's meeting, will discuss several grant opportunities for the Johnson County Sheriff's Office, progress on an update of the county's master thoroughfare plan and the possibility of implementing a four-day work week for Facilities Management Maintenance staff members.
